LONDON - Cell Medica Ltd. has treated the first patient in a Phase III trial of a cell therapy treatment for the prevention of cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection in immunocompromised bone marrow transplant patients.

Apart from assessing safety and efficacy, the 110-patient trial is intended to demonstrate that it would be possible to set up and run a commercially viable national cell therapy service.

“I just never knew what it was like to really be healthy.”
